Rottnest Island - Day Trip from Perth

Porpoise Bay at Rottnest Island

In last October, it was almost late spring. The sky was blue with some fluffy white clouds, the sun was shining bright and could be a little scorching, and the waters were of beautiful shades of blue.

I made a day trip to Rottnest Island and hadn't have enough of it!
Gotta make sure that I put it in on the next trip and make it an overnight one.

Rottnest Island was a 1.5hr ferry ride away from the Perth city. (If you are staying at Fremantle, the distance would be shorter) One could make it a day trip to experience the sunny and sandy place. Else, extend it further to really rest and relax in less a hurried way.

Arriving at Rottnest.
It was almost 12 noon when I reached Rottnest and finished lunch. It didn't seem like there was much time left to cover the whole island. So, my entourage quickly split into two groups - cycling and bus - to start the sightseeing.

The cycling group had no idea how far we could cover and we hadn't gotten their bicycles. When we got to the bike shop, we were happy to know that there was a bike rental discount for 3 hours. Bike checked, safety helmet checked! Off went the group!

Parker Point
One of the may beautiful spots.
The island's native - Quokka. So cute!
There were just too many picturesque spots that made the group stop, explore and snap.  And, not forgetting, meeting the island's cute native - the quokka. Good times passed really fast. Though the group wanted to try to get to the Wadjemup Lighthouse, which was in the middle of the island, but the furthest we rode was salmon bay and we u-turned there.

The beautiful scenery along the way made me pressed on with cycling which was something I wasn't steady with. Just when the cycling was coming to an end and wanting to pride myself with the feat of overcoming the multiple up-down slopes terrain, I lost balance and fell from the bike. Ouch.. Gotta pick myself up and cycled the rest of the 5-10min journey. As a scar was "imprinted" on my knee, the breathtaking scenery inked in my memory too.

On the road
Part of the journey
The group that did the bus tour managed to cover the whole island at leisure. Though they couldn't have much time to hop on and off, they had made a wise decision to stop at west end to explore more.

Besides sightseeing and cycling, Rottnest Island also seemed like a great place for sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling. Aww... I am so looking forward to going there again.

Wasn't this lovely? I will be back!
