South New Zealand: Milford Sound

Milford Sound or Doubtful Sound? Which fjord to visit in New Zealand's Fiordland? The choice was to stick to the more travelled path - the Milford.

It was raining almost the whole day during the day trip to Milford Sound. Sounds dampening, right? Fortunately, nature had a way to showcase different wonderful sights in all conditions. And, sometimes it's also the mindset to enjoy what you've got. With such thought, the group braved the wind and rain to stay on the top deck of the cruise ship to catch all the sights (and water, hahha).

Autumn going to Winter. A sight to behold along the way to Milford Sound.
The vessel that brought passengers into the fjord. Free hot beverage on board helped to warm the group in cold weather.
Cruising... and viewing more waterfall.
Get wet further! Vessel brought the passengers close to the cascading falls.

En-route to Milford from Te Anau, the group had stopped by Mirror Lake. Unfortunately, it was drizzling
and the sky was dark. The group missed the sight of mirror reflection on the lake. On the next day, they weren't satisfied with leaving the place without seeing clear reflection on the mirror lake. It certainly helped that mirror lake wasn't too far away from Te Anau. Hence, decision made to visit it again before leaving for another town.

Mirror Lake's reflection.

1st visit on a rainy gloomy day.
2nd visit during brilliant weather.
